Promoting the responsible manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, usage and disposal of foodservice packaging
The FPA has a wide ranging environmental agenda and the FPA Environment Committee meets regularly to agree the Association’s environmental policies. We discuss issues with foodservice operators and caterers and seek to keep our members informed and deal with enquiries from the public, government and other organisations. We feel achievements can be made by working with other organisations including INCPEN, The Packaging Federation and the material trade associations.
The FPA Annual Environment Seminar takes place in January and is attended by members, their customers and trade associations, government, local authorities and academic organisations. The 2015 seminar focussed on bringing the foodservice chain together to increase the recycling of foodservice packaging. The seminar featured presentations from Costa Coffee, Pret A Manger, LARAC, Viridor, BaxterStorey, Mark Pawsey MP (Chair of the All Party Parliamentary group for Packaging), Simply Cups and WRAP. In addition EU packaging waste developments were discussed with presentations from DEFRA, Ball Packaging and INCPEN.Invalid download ID.
The FPA attends the All Party Parliamentary Group for Packaging and is on the steering committee and working groups of the Hospitality and Foodservice Agreement and is a member of the Soft Drinks Roadmap and the Packaging Recycling Group Scotland.
All members of the FPA adhere to a Code of Practice and by doing so confirm they operate their businesses and are supplying products and packaging all of which comply with EU and UK environmental legislation.
As members of INCPEN (The Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment) FPA members benefit from the quarterly INCPEN reports summarises packaging environmental news from around the world.
The FPA is consulted by UK and devolved governments and attends meetings with DEFRA taking part in the DEFRA EU stakeholder meetings.
A large number of reports are available to FPA members in the Resources section
