FPA ENDORSES SQUARE MILE CHALLENGE

The Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) is delighted to support the Square Mile Challenge, a collaborative campaign delivered by Hubbub and Simply Cups, alongside cup manufacturers, coffee retailers and more than 30 business stakeholders, to increase significantly the recycling of used paper cups in the City of London.

Mile

This the UK’s biggest initiative to tackle paper cup recycling, aiming to recycle half a million paper cups in the City in April and five million by the end of the year.

Executive Director Martin Kersh said: “The FPA 100% endorses this campaign and believe it really will be a success. We’re convinced it will capture the public imagination and consumers who care will make sure it works.  Hubbub is to be congratulated in engaging with so many blue-chip stakeholders, including Network Rail and big law, accountancy, insurance and consultancy firms.  Anyone who lives or works in the City will be able to dispose of their coffee cups in the yellow cup bins on the streets, at participating coffee retailers and at the offices of more than 30 major participating employers.

“We see this campaign as the blue-print for the UK in the coming months.”
