NEWS RELEASE

11 January 2023

Ruth Jones MP, Shadow Defra Minister, to Speak at FPA Environment Seminar

In what’s believed to be the first time during this government that both Defra Minister and Shadow have spoken at the same packaging event, the FPA has announced that Shadow Defra Minister Ruth Jones MP (Labour, Newport West) will speak at the Environment Seminar on 19 January.

Executive Director Martin Kersh said: “It’s incredibly important the FPA engages across the political spectrum and builds strong relationships with ministerial shadows.  We’re delighted Ruth Jones has accepted our invitation and look forward to welcoming her to the Seminar along with Defra Minister Rebecca Pow.”

The theme for the event is 'Understanding the issues that will impact your foodservice packaging business in 2023’, as the sector faces multi-level challenges from legislative and regulatory changes, a weak economy and labour shortages. Debate themes include reusables/refillables and living with mandatory targets, compostable packaging, and how can we make mandatory cup takeback work?

The event is open to members and non-members. Spaces are strictly limited, and you are encouraged to book now by emailing Administrator Lisa McGowan.
