FPA 2025 Environment Seminar

2025 FPA ENVIRONMENT SEMINAR
Packaging Innovations

Overview

Booking is now open for the 2025 FPA Environment Seminar: How to get out of the packaging jungle alive, returning to Stationers’ Hall, EC4M 7DD, London, and kindly sponsored by Packaging Innovations.

Taking place on Wednesday, 29 October, this essential one-day seminar is designed to widen your perspective on the key packaging issues facing your business – and how to stay on top of them.

The agenda will cover a range of critical topics, including reusables, packaging claims, how to manage government packaging legislation to deliver benefits for your business, and AI applications for packaging and waste management.

You’ll hear from a variety of expert speakers and have the opportunity to question representatives from government, packaging, environment, and hospitality sectors.

The session on reusables features Catherine Conway, Director and Reuse Lead of of reuse pressure group GoUnpackaged; Professor Tom Web University of Sheffield School of Psychology specialising in self-regulation and behaviour change and Roger Wright, waste strategy and packaging manager of Biffa.

Our much needed session on how artificial intelligence will change packaging in waste management features Amy Hooper, Biffa’s Head of Innovation and Doctor Fernando Barrio, reader in sustainable business law and policy at Queen Mary, University of London. Amy and Fernando are both hugely eminent speakers on AI and will give you clear directions on what steps you need to take to capitalise on the opportunity.

Dr Alan Campbell and Dr Sybren Schoustra from the LCA Centre will be discussing using testing technology to deliver packaging claim substantiation and to bring you up to date with everything that is impacting packaging in Europe we have Eamonn Bates, Secretary General of 360 Foodservice, the European body for foodservice packaging. As previous attendees will affirm the words ’shy’ and ‘retiring’ cannot be ascribed to these speakers. Be sure to be taken on a full roller coaster ride of essential information for your business.

So now for a first: the Talking Rubbish podcast featuring Ecosurety’s Robbie Staniforth and James Piper, author of The Rubbish Book will be recorded live. As modestly described by them ‘both James and Robbie are award winning sustainability experts who love to talk absolute rubbish’. This will be a really fun but informative hour and if you’ve yet to hear their podcast have a listen here

Currently in development is a panel on how to manage government packaging legislation to deliver benefits for your business. We’ve raised the problems and it’s not going away, but can packaging EPR be made to work to benefit your business?

The seminar promises to be a jam-packed day of networking and information, and we're very much hoping to be announcing three further speakers at the heart of packaging policy making.

If you haven’t already booked, then we urge you to do so now as we still have some capacity.

Given we have such a great speaker line-up at a very prestigious venue, and with lunch and refreshments throughout, we are hugely grateful to Packaging Innovations 2026 for generously sponsoring the event – enabling us to keep the ticket prices down.
